Hong Kong’s marine environment is under-protected. The health of the Hong Kong SAR’s marine environment has been steadily declining for years, and life below water continues to be depleted at alarming rates. Produced by the Hong Kong Marine Policy Alliance (HKMPA), this Position Paper has identified both immediate measures and a strategic approach for structural reforms. These specific actions can address current marine protection policy gaps and develop a more sustainable marine environment in Hong Kong. The ambition is to partner with the Hong Kong SAR Government and other stakeholders to safeguard Hong Kong’s under-protected and under-valued marine environment.
